Pawnshops

The Division does not have any regulatory authority over pawnbrokers and pawnshops. The Missouri Legislature has placed the authority to license and regulate pawnbrokers and pawnshops with local governments. Therefore, if you have questions about either the operations of your local pawnbroker or are interested in opening a pawnshop, you should contact the county, city or other political subdivision where the business is or will be located for more information.

The laws pertaining to the regulation of pawnbrokers and pawnshops can be found in Chapter 367 of the Missouri Revised Statutes, more specifically at §§367.011 to 367.060.
