Virtual Currency Kiosk Operators
As of August 28, 2025: Virtual Currency Kiosk Operators who own, operate, solicit, market, advertise or facilitate virtual currency kiosks in Missouri shall be deemed to be engaged in money transmission and require licensure pursuant to the Money Transmission Modernization Act, (RSMo 361.1100)
In 2024, the Missouri legislature passed the Money Transmission Modernization Act (MTMA), sections ยงยง361.900 to 361.1035. MTMA replaces existing money transmission laws to provide licensees additional uniformity of regulatory requirements as well as updated protections for Missouri citizens.
Missouri utilizes the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) to accept and process Money Transmission renewals, new applications, notice of changes and related fees.
